KINGSTON – The number of opioid overdoses continues to rise across Ontario, and to address this present and growing problem in our community, KFL&A Public Health is working with partners to increase access to naloxone, a life saving medication for those using drugs, and is expanding other harm reduction services.

KFL&A Public Health is warning local residents of the increased risk that unregulated drugs thought to be ecstasy (MDMA) may contain unexpected and potent combinations of opiates and benzodiazepines.

Environment Canada has issued a warning for a multi-day heat event that begins Monday and is expected to last most of the week for the City of Kingston and Frontenac and Lennox and Addington counties. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach between 30ºC to 35ºC, with minimum temperatures falling between 18ºC to 23ºC, bringing little relief from the heat. KFL&A Public Health reminds residents to enjoy the upcoming solar eclipse safely. On Monday, April 8, 2024, the Moon’s orbit will position it directly between the Earth and the Sun, causing a solar eclipse.
