19th Annual Jingle Bell Run
What:
More than 15,000 students and staff from 60 schools in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington (KFL&A) will take part in the 19th annual Jingle Bell Run. Students will be donating a non-perishable food in exchange for a jingle bell and participating in a 1 km festive fit break where they will walk, run or skip around their school or community “with bells on”. This is a partnership between KFL&A Public Health, local school boards, and local food banks to help gather food donations for families in need.
Where:
Students and teachers from 60 schools in KFL&A will be participating. Media are welcome to go to École Sir John A. Macdonald Public School (529 St Martha St., Kingston) or The Prince Charles School Napanee (75 Graham St. W, Napanee) for photos and interviews. Upon arrival and prior to photographing or speaking to any children, please check in with the principal.
When:
Friday, December 6, 2019. The Jingle Bell Run will start at various times, depending on the school.
The start time at École Sir John A. Macdonald Public School is 2:00 p.m.
The start time at The Prince Charles School Napanee is 10:30 a.m.
Why: Research shows that approximately two thirds of children and youth in Canada do not meet the physical activity recommendation within the Canadian 24-hour Movement Guidelines. For better brain health, all children and youth should be physical active on a regular basis. The Jingle Bell Run encourages children and youth to be active while helping those who are less fortunate.
