Back to SearchKingston—Yesterday, the government of Ontario announced a regional approach to lift the Stay-at-Home order and move three regions in Ontario to Green-Prevent level, including the Kingston, Frontenac, and Lennox & Addington (KFL&A) region. This change will be effective Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 12:01 a.m.
“We are supportive of this announcement and cautiously optimistic knowing that we have made progress, but the risk of COVID-19 still remains high in most of the province,” said Dr. Kieran Moore, Medical Officer of Health at KFL&A Public Health. “We will monitor the situation closely and will not hesitate to put additional measures in place if rates of transmission increase in the region. We want residents to remain vigilant, stay local and support our local economy.”
The Province has included an “emergency brake” in their plan to allow a public health region that is experiencing high levels of COVID-19 transmission to quickly contain the community spread by moving the region back into Grey-Lockdown to interrupt the transmission of COVID-19.
KFL&A Public Health urges all residents to continue to practice public health measures to keep the region open and safe.
• Practice good hand hygiene, cough etiquette, wearing a face covering, and physical distancing.
• Stay local and avoid non-essential travel outside of the KFL&A region, especially travel between areas that remain under the stay-at-home order.
• Limit close contact to your household (the people you live with).
• Stay home as much as possible.
• If you have any symptoms of illness—isolate and get tested.
