Back to SearchToday KFL&A Public Health released it's plan to offer COVID-19 vaccines to children 5 to 11 years of age living in the Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington region. The plan will come into effect once the Province of Ontario provides vaccine to our region.
KFL&A Public Health’s vaccine plan ensures first doses of COVID-19 vaccine will be available to 13,000 eligible children in our community. By vaccinating those in our community that are 5 to 11 years of age, we increase the entire community’s level of protection against COVID-19.
Vaccine appointments for children ages 5 to 11 are not yet available. More information for this age group, including how to book appointments through KFL&A Public Health’s online booking system and through local partners, will be coming shortly. Clinic locations and booking links will soon be available at kflaph.ca/Vaccine.

KFL&A Public Health will continue to offer immunizations through our existing clinic locations and increase our mobile clinics in local secondary schools which allow for larger capacity.

KFL&A Public Health is mindful that some children may be anxious and have a fear of needles. Immunizers understand and are trained to help your child have a comfortable experience. Children can bring their favourite stuffed animal or screen device. Parent may use numbing spray prior to their appointment to reduce pain at the site where the vaccine is given, and privacy options will be available. There will be child-friendly puzzles and fun stickers will be given out. Consent by a parent or guardian will be required for COVID-19 vaccination for children aged five to 11.
Vaccination is an important tool to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and allow students and families to safely resume normal activities. When enough people are protected from COVID-19, the risk of infection for your child will begin to decline. Vaccines, along with mask-wearing, physical distancing, and other precautions, will help protect the health of the broader community.
