Self-Isolation Means You Stay At Home
Kingston, ON – All individuals who are returning from any travel outside of Canada and any individuals with COVID-19 symptoms are to self-isolate for 14 days. Self-isolation means you stay at home and avoid contact with other people.
Staying home means you:
- do not go to public places such as work, grocery stores, shopping centres, or pharmacies.
- ask someone to get food and other necessities for you and leave them at your front door.
- do not let visitors in — only people who usually live with you should be in your home.
- do not need to wear a mask in your home, but do wear one if you have to go out (e.g., to seek medical attention)
- should stay in touch by phone and online with your family and friends
“We must act now to address this serious public health threat.” said Dr. Kieran Moore, Medical Officer of Health at KFL&A Public Health. “We are asking everyone in our community to practice social responsibility during this critical time, as these actions can protect your own health and those around you. We have the opportunity now to slow the spread of illness and ensure health care resources are available to those who need them most.”
To help reduce the spread of this virus and protect those who are most at risk, it is important that you take the recommended steps to properly self-isolate to protect yourself and others. If you have concerns about the behaviour or practices of any individual, we encourage you to address these concerns directly with them. We are all in this together.
