Grade 7 School-Based Immunizations
KFL&A Public Health provides school-based immunization clinics for Grade 7 students for free. These immunizations include meningococcal, hepatitis B, and human papillomavirus (HPV). KFL&A Public Health visits schools twice during the year to provide these vaccines. Proof of Men-C- ACYW-135 immunization or a valid exemption is a requirement for students in Grades 7 to 12 to attend school under the Immunization of School Pupils Act. All students in Grade 7 are eligible to receive meningococcal, hepatitis B, and human papillomavirus (HPV) immunizations.
Students require consent from a parent or caregiver to receive these immunizations at school. Immunization information and consent forms are sent home through your child's school in early September. Please sign and return your child's consent form to the school within one week. You can contact KFL&A Public Health to receive a paper copy of the form or complete the consent form online.

Grade 7 Immunization KFL&A Public Health
Hi, I'm Pedro.
And I'm Abby.
And we're here to tell you about grade 7 immunization day at your school.
By now you've likely heard about what immunizations are offered in grade seven
and together with your parents or guardians have decided which ones you'd like to get.
We're here today to tell you about what you can expect on your grade 7 immunization day.
The public health nurses will also share a little bit of advice on things you can do to help prepare yourself for the clinic day at your school.
Let's check in with the nurses and see what information they may need from you when you sit down to see them at the clinic.
Hi there.
Hello.
How are you today?
Good.
Can you give me your name? Aydan.
Okay. And what is your birthday Aydan?
June 30.
Students of all ages, even in high school,
often have questions about immunizations and the immunization process.
Let's talk to some seventh graders and see what they're wondering about.
Will it hurt?
Well everybody experiences immunizations differently most people say it feels like a little pinch.
Okay.
How long will it last?
It takes approximately three seconds for each immunization.
So what can you do to make immunization day as easy as possible for yourself?
Well, one thing is to eat a good breakfast including something to drink.
When you get your immunization take a deep breath and relax your arm.
If you're especially nervous or worried please let us know.
You can wear a short sleeve shirt like you've done today. Or bring an extra that you can change into.
After your immunizations you'll be asked to sit on the floor for 15 minutes.
The nurses will monitor you to make sure you're feeling alright and don't have a reaction to the immunizations which is very rare.
Let's see what the seventh graders think after getting their immunizations.
I was surprised it was over so quickly.
The nurse really helped me a lot.
I said, was that it?
It was so much easier than I thought it would be.
That's it. Now you know what to expect on your clinic day.
As well as things you can do to make your day as easy as possible.
